Reducing Racial Disparities in the Treatment of Lung Cancer

Video

This video discusses possible methods to help reduce racial disparities in the treatment and outcomes of early-stage lung cancer.

A recent study found that disparities exist in both the treatment and outcomes of patients with stage I non-small-cell lung cancer, with African Americans and American Indians faring worse than the overall population.

In this video, Andrew Farach, MD, of Houston Methodist Hospital, who presented the study (abstract 9) at the 2017 Multidisciplinary Thoracic Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, discusses methods to improve screening and access to care for these populations, which could help reduce these disparities.
