Royal Philips Electronics introduced its third-generation Time-of-Flight platform for radiation oncology on its Gemini TF Big Bore PET/CT scanner at SNM 2009 in Toronto.

Royal Philips Electronics introduced its third-generation Time-of-Flight platform for radiation oncology on its Gemini TF Big Bore PET/CT scanner at SNM 2009 in Toronto. Time-of-flight technology measures the time difference between the detection of coincident gamma rays for accurate localization, producing a higher quality image and allowing for lower tracer dose amounts in patients and shorter imaging times, according to the company. The system has been installed at the proton therapy center at the University of Pennsylvania.
